The 6 best new shows and movies streaming this week on Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Apple TV and more (July 10-12)
From a new anime remake to a Stephen King classic on the big screen, there's plenty to enjoy on streaming this weekend
While this week we don't have the usual dump of all of the new TV shows and movies that the beginning of the month brings on streaming services, there are still plenty of new additions to enjoy. On the line-up this week, Netflix has a new adaptation of a much-loved book series for viewers to enjoy as Little House on the Prairie arrives. Then Apple TV Plus is launching the new season of its beloved television dramedy Trying while Prime Video has a new anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell to enjoy as well.
If you're after a movie, one of the best sci-fi films of the year Project Hail Mary is now out on Prime Video, after a brief spell on MGM Plus. For more of a thriller vibe, HBO Max has the much-acclaimed adaptation of Stephen King's The Long Walk to enjoy. For the best of both of the sci-fi and thriller worlds too, Hulu is releasing Redux Redux, a 2025 movie that sees a woman travelling through parallel universes in order to avenge her daughter's death.
For more details on all of these, read on for our recommendations of what to turn on your televisions this week.
Trying season 5
Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Apple TV+
Trying has long been ticking along in the background of Apple TV Plus' streaming library with each new season cementing its place as one of the platform's best series. Season 5 is no different as it sees Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) navigating life as adoptive parents to Princess and Tyler.
The latest episodes pick up in the wake of the children's biological mother (played by Charlotte Riley) turning up on their doorstep. She brings fresh chaos into their settled family life in the warm and moving drama-comedy. Trying season 5 is airing weekly on Apple TV Plus with the first episode available now.

Little House on the Prairie
Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Netflix
Based on the beloved semi-autobiographical books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie is an all-American tale for the ages. Previously adapted into a much-loved long-running show on NBC in '70s, Netflix has now come out with a new version of this story told across an eight-part mini-series.
Described as "part family drama, part epic survival tale", the new series tells the story of a family growing up in the American Midwest in the late 1800s. Unlike a lot of new Netflix shows, Little House on the Prairie has already been renewed for a second season too, meaning there's no fear it will get canceled just as you start to enjoy it. You can stream all episodes of season 1 now.

The Ghost in the Shell anime series is a new adaptation of the hugely popular franchise. Set in near-future Japan, cyborg Motoko Kusanagi creates a task force to strike emerging threats. However, when 'The Puppet Master' begins causing issues for her team, she sets out to find the mysterious hacker and bring them down.

Redux Redux
Available: US
Where to watch: Hulu
Sci-fi thriller Redux Redux stars Michaela McManus as a woman who repeatedly and obsessively kills her daughter's murderer across parallel universes. Along the way she's helped by a young tearaway who slowly helps her with her unique choice of a grieving process.
It's a brutal premise that is pulled off by a great central performance from McNanus, directed here by her brothers, Kevin and Matthew. The pulpy, fast-paced thriller landed very solid reviews when it arrived as well as comparisons to movies like Terminator and Looper. If you're after some violent escapism this weekend, Redux Redux might be the best pick for you. It's on Hulu now.

The Long Walk

Dystopian, survival thriller The Long Walk is now available to stream on HBO Max. The film, based on the 1979 novel by Stephen King stars Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson as two young men who join a group of fifty boys walking in an annual television contest.
Each boy must maintain a pace of three miles and hour while walking nonstop for days. If they fail to do this, death awaits. Directed by The Hunger Games helmer Francis Lawrence, the movie received some great reviews, mostly praising the fantastic central performances. It's well worth a watch this weekend if you can stomach some dystopia.

Project Hail Mary
Available: US/UK
Where to watch: Prime Video
One of the best sci-fi movies of recent years and one of our favorite films of 2026 so far, Project Hail Mary is now out on streaming. Based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir, the movie stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a middle school teacher who wakes up on an interstellar spacecraft. That's not all as he has no memory of how he got there.
Our Project Hail Mary review gave it four stars, calling out its "stunning visuals" and "beautifully emotional story". "Project Hail Mary is large-scale sci-fi with tons of heart," wrote Molly Edwards. Sounds like the perfect weekend watch to us.
