The Lost
An American take on survival-horror intended to be deeper and more imaginative than the Silent Hills and Resident Evils of the time, The Lost involved a mother's journey through modern-day hell to rescue her daughter. Created by Irrational, the team responsible for PC spook-fest System Shock 2, it was at first highly anticipated - but publishing troubles held up its release for years, and the buzz faded. A PS2 version was completed, but was ultimately never released.
Comeback chance?
The Lost has the best outlook of all these featured disappearing acts: Irrational bought back the rights to its game, and intend to remake it in the future.
