Dead Island video - Full Access Playthrough

Well, the highly anticipated Dead Island has finally arrived, and it’s pretty damn good. For today’s FAP we have Chris, Mikel and I commentating on the beginning portion of the game, but with a twist: we’re using the “new game plus” mode activated after finishing the campaign, so my character is hugely leveled up with some nifty abilities and weapons you wouldn’t normally see anywhere near the game’s beginning. Take a look at my two-footed head stomp!

I know a lot of you guys seem to think that a score of 7 means “bad” but here at GR it actually means the opposite, as evidenced by our handy text accompaniment with each of our numbered scores. The game isn’t perfect, and its bugginess is what kept if from getting a super-duper mega-awesome score, but it really is a good game. You won’t see any of the game’s major problems in this FAP because the beginning of the game doesn’t reveal the bigger flaws – it’s only later on that the bugs start to really crop up. You will see some of the cool and genuinely fun aspects of the gameplay, though. If it looks like fun to you, be sure to check out my review and consider giving the game a spin because it’s very much worth playing if you like the idea of chopping, stabbing, and crushing zombies while they’re right up in your face.

My new approach to play all games on Hard mode straight off the bat has proven satisfying. Sure there is some frustration, but I've decided it's the lesser of two evils when weighed against the boredom of easiness that Normal difficulty has become in the era of casual gaming.
