Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will feature co-op campaign play when it launches on November 6, but even if you pick up the game a few weeks later, you'll be able to catch up to your buddies right out of the box. That's because every level in Black Ops 3 story will be unlocked from the get-go, allowing you to skip all that nonsense about "plot" and "character arcs" and get right to the good part: savin' the world.
The idea is that you'll be able to jump in for co-op no matter how far ahead in the story your friends may be, eliminating a barrier to the co-op experience. It's not the only lifeline developer Treyarch is throwing to newcomers, either. Players will be able to share guns in co-op, meaning that if Player A has unlocked an awesome gun that Player B hasn't, Player A can share that weapon with Player B to give them an edge in battle.
GamesRadar+ editor Andy Hartup has his boots on the ground at Gamescom 2015 with even more information and impressions (like why Black Ops 3 has "the most fucked up story," so maybe you won't want to skip it) to share. And hey, look at that, all of our content is unlocked for you too, so you can jump in and check it all out as you please! I think it's safe to say we gave Black Ops 3 a pretty good idea here.
