These include franchises such as Darksiders, Red Faction and MX vs. ATV, which have yet to find a buyer.

Asked about the future of these series, former THQ president Rubin Rubin told Game Informer: "There will be a separate process to sell off the back catalogue and IP. That process will take place in the coming weeks."

On his own immediate future, Rubin added: “My focus right now is helping the THQ employees who are out of work find jobs. I am lucky enough that this process doesn’t negatively impact my family. That is not true for hundreds of people.”

Earlier this week Sega acquired Company of Heroes developer Relic Entertainment for $26 million, while Volition, Saints Row and the Metro property were picked up by Koch Media for a combined total of $28.1 million.

Ubisoft purchased THQ Montreal for $2.5 million and South Park: The Stick of Truth for $3.2 million, Take 2 acquired the rights to Turtle Rock Studios' co-op action project Evolve for $11 million, and Crytek bought Homefront for $500,000.
