Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will introduce audiences to Star-Lord's dad, but you don't have to wait until May to meet him. Just head on down to your nearest comic book store and ask to see the new Funko figures, because two new additions to the Funko Pop and Funko Dorbz lines of collectibles are our first look at Ego the Living Planet in his human form. And he looks… well, pretty much like a space-dad.
No glowy bits, no weird proportions, no real standout features to speak of, just a full beard and swept back hair. And hey, considering he's being played by Kurt Russell, that's fine by me - the fewer prosthetics and makeup that come between viewers and his performance the better.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time a character has been revealed by way of a Funko tie-in. The company's Pint Size Heroes line provided our first look at GotG2 villain Ayesha just last week. Hopefully a new trailer is on the way and we'll get a proper introduction to these characters soon.
Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.
