P.T.? Pfft, try The Shining demade into a creepy video game

You remember how Alien Isolation took near-obsessive care in recreating the sights and sounds of its cinematic inspiration, all while telling an original story? This video game interpretation/demake of The Shining goes in the complete opposite direction, and… it works.

Eschewing the visual fidelity and first-person perspective that's become the horror standard through games like Isolation and P.T., Let's Play The Shining looks like it came out alongside the film in 1980. Fortunately, you don't have to go digging around in a New Mexico landfill to find a copy: just load it in your browser, and make sure you don't end up like Jack.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
