PS4 beats out Xbox One and Oculus for T3 gaming gadget award

For the second year in a row, PlayStation 4 has snagged the T3 Awards' Gaming Product of the Year. The massive consumer-voted award ceremony (kind of like a techie version of our very own Golden Joystick Awards, if you're not familiar) gave the honors to PS4 over rivals like Xbox One, the Razer Blade laptop, and Oculus Rift.

Unlike last year, when PS4 also swept the overall Gadget of the Year category, Apple Watch claimed top honors in 2015. Still, it's certainly a feather in Sony's cap to be recognized once again by our sister publication, even as VR-mania reaches a fever pitch for gadgets like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Oculus founder Palmer Luckey did take home the Outstanding Achievement award, in addition to the Outstanding Achievement in Magazine Covers Award I just gave him.

It will really be impressive if PS4 manages to take the category for a third year in a row; both Oculus and Vive will be strapped to faces around the world by the time voting begins for the T3 Awards 2016.

Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo.
