Today marks the digital release of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, and in the bonus features, there’s a new look at the highly-anticipated (opens in new tab). Most intriguingly, there’s some new concept art that shows Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder facing off against Mark Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk in gladiatorial combat.
We knew Ragnarok would include a nod to the beloved Planet Hulk storyline as Thor brawls with all manner of interplanetary creatures for the entertainment of Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, and our hero’s clash with Hulk has been hyped for months. (We haven’t seen Bruce Banner since he took off in that jet at the end of Age of Ultron, so it’s about time he returns to action.) But now we have a better idea of what that clash with look like.
Looks like ceremonial headgear is a requirement for these fights, and if this holds true, it means Thor will finally wear his classic helmet from the comics. Hulk’s headgear, meanwhile, looks inspired by ancient Roman warriors and jibes with the reveal we saw at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con:

Hulk and Thor are both insanely strong and they’ve had a bit of a friendly rivalry since the first Avengers movie, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when the two are forced into battle with each other in a hostile environment.
Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, and Karl Urban, Thor: Ragnarok blasts into theaters on October 27, 2017 in the UK and November 3, 2017 in the US.
