Pacific Rim has one of summer 2013’s simplest blockbuster sells: giant robots versus giant monsters.

The monsters that are threatening Earth (and its inhabitants) are Kaiju: high-rise-sized aliens that have transported in through a portal in the Pacific. Humanity has to craft a pretty epic weapon for the fight back: Jaegers.

Jaegers are equally giant mechas, controlled by two human pilots working in tandem through a mental connection known as 'The Drift'.

When we met up with Guillermo del Toro and cast members Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Robert Kazinsky, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman, we asked them one of the big sci-fi questions: what is your favourite movie robot of all time?
