Bottle Shock review

Apparently there is only room for one good film about wine tasting

Star Trek hunk Chris Pine sports a surfer dude hairdo in Randall Miller’s comedy.

It’s just one of several unconvincing details in this fact-based tale of a Napa Valley vineyard that goes up against the French in a ’70s taste test arranged by Alan Rickman’s snooty oenophile.

Bill Pullman plays Pine’s dad, a Frisco lawyer who has sunk his whole life savings into a struggling vinery. Will his latest vintage cut the mustard?

One visit to Threshers will answer that one in a film whose tepid dregs of feel-good uplift come peppered with endless tracking shots of California scenery. Sideways 2 this most definitely ain’t.
