One of the things that kept us going back to Need For Speed: Most Wanted was the innovative Autolog, which found a unique way to turn the racing game into a social experience. DICE's upcoming Battlefield 3 will have a similar feature, and if the trailer above is to be believed, it's going to take the concept even further. It's called Battlelog (get it?), and according to Executive Producer Patrick Bach, it's the "deepest persistence in the franchise's history."
Battlelog lets you track everything you do from the game, the web, and from mobile devices. But beyond checking your own stats, you can also follow your friends' is if it was a Twitter feed, commenting on their progress and chatting about games in real time. You'll also be able to receive notifications when your friends pass your scores or gain weapons, giving you even more incentive to play with your buddies. On that same note, you can create squads with friends, tracking stats together and competing against others. DICE says that this feature is great for casual gamers and hardcore players alike, as it will allow stat comparisons on a smaller level for those who aren't looking to take on anyone on the global leaderboard.
