Hello, sweetie! Doctor Who 's River Song was to join us in February but can no longer make it
Spoilers! No, seriously, spoilers ahead.
Alas, Alex Kingston has had to pull out of the Weekender due to filming commitments on the new series of Upstairs, Downstairs .
What follows was our original announcement in October, but alas it is no longer valid. For our current line-up of guests, please visit www.sfxweekender.com .
We’re thrilled to announce the Doctor’s wife, the first daughter of Amy and Rory Pond and the sweetest lady in science fiction Alex Kingston will be joining in the fun at the SFX Weekender 3 in Prestatyn, North Wales.
SFX readers will of course know Kingston best as the Doctor-bothering sort-of-Time Lord, River Song/Melody Pond whose mysterious, multi-season story sort-of came to a head in last Saturday’s season six finale . As one of the few characters to make the leap from the Russell T Davies era to Steven Moffat’s time in the big chair, River has become one of the most important and popular characters in the New Who roster.
There’s more to Kingston than Doctor Who though. Many will be aware of her from the smash hit US medical drama, ER, where she appeared regularly as Dr Elizabeth Corday for seven years, or ITV’s five-part supernatural drama Marchlands from earlier this year, as well as her work on the big screen dating back to the 1980s.
Alex Kingston will be appearing at the SFX Weekender on Saturday 4 February 2012, where she’ll take to the stage for a live interview and spend time in the signing area. The SFX Weekender takes place at Prestatyn holiday camp in North Wales on Friday 3 February and Saturday 4 February 2012, with our pre-party on Thursday 2 February for the early birds. VIP tickets are already almost sold out but there are still other options available. Make sure you get yours before it's too late! Book now by calling 08700 11 00 34, or head to www.sfxweekender.com more information - while you're there you can marvel at the new-look Weekender website too. All guest appearances are subject to work commitments, natch.
