Capcom has just announced that the new online multiplayer Versus mode for Resident Evil 5 will be available to download on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7th.

A week after Street Fighter IV was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360, Capcom revealed that PC owners could expect the game in the summer. However, they're keeping their cards closer to their chest with Resident Evil 5. They still won't confirm whether a PC release is planned.

VG247: Capcom US comms boss Chris Kramer has called Resident Evil 5 a "new direction" for the franchise, and said that previous games, characters and storylines in the series should be seen as "act one" of the series.
