Speaking to Famitsu, Capcom has revealed it's sales expectations for Resident Evil 5. The believe, based on the popularity of the demo, which is available for the PS3 and 360 in Japan, that Resident Evil 5 will sell at least 500K copies in Japan at launch. Further, they expect the title to sell 5-6 million copies worldwide during it's lifetime.» Read More

The promised Resident Evil 5 demo is now available on Xbox Live. Play by yourself or play with a partner in co-op mode, either online or offline with a split screen.
The demo is not available in Germany.

VG247: Chris Kramer, Capcom's senior director for communications and community, has said that Resident Evil 5 is a continuation of the series and is no longer a traditional survival horror game.
"Resident Evil 5 can still loosely be considered a survival horror game," he offered. However, compared with Resident Evil 4 it will be "more exciting, more action with more tension."

This month's Official PlayStation magazine in the UK indicates that the game's review embargo is to be lifted in the middle of February when their next edition is released, with Resident Evil 5 featured as the exclusive review.
The website also questions the future of the Resident Evil 5 franchise's future after the game has been released.

Capcom is inviting their fans out to their London offices to play Resident Evil 5 next month. All you need to do to get in is go over to this forum thread over at Capcom's Europe Web site and let them know that you want to go. Just make sure you have February 11 and 13 free before you put your name down! There are about seven slots left open so you better be quick about it.
A few Dtoiders have already RSVP'd. If any of you make it in, ask them about what's up with that multiplayer mode the were talking about yesterday.
Oh, there will be pizza. Zombie flavored pizza … if zombies taste like cheese that is.

What kind? Don't know yet, but the product page on Xbox Japan confirms Resident Evil 5 will have some kind of downloadable content. Perhaps, downloadable tanks or Jeeps for the zombies not riding dirtbikes.
The product page also sprinkles a few other details such as system link only works with 2 players, not 2-16 like some proposed box art claims. Resident Evil 5 also has online rankings and supports custom soundtracks just in case you want to blast zombies while listening to Hannah Montana. We're not judging or anything, the contrast might even be a riot.

Capcom has just contacted D+PAD to inform them that the 2-16 player system link rumour revealed this morning is in fact an error. The rumour started when D+PAD spotted that the boxart of the limited edition steelbook stated that 2-16 players would be able to play the game via system link.
"It has been brought to our attention that the recently issued packaging for the Limited Edition version of Resident Evil 5 on Xbox 360 contains an error," said Capcom.
"It wrongly stated that the game supported 2-16 players via system link. The correct number of players supported via system link is in fact two. Please accept our apologies for this mistake and any confusion this may have caused."

As pictured, the rear of the steelbook limited edition version of Resident Evil 5 states that 2-16 players will be able to hook up and play together via system link. Online multiplayer, however, is still restricted to 2.
