More Xbox LIVE Arcade games discounted exclusively via Amazon.com (Pac-Man Championship Edition - Xbox Live Arcade)

Following the weekend 50% off discount deal from Galaga Legions, Amazon.com is now offering several more Xbox LIVE Arcade games at a lower price than the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Doom is currently listed for $2.97 (41% less than on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace), and Pac-Man Championship Edition is currently listed for $4.97 (50% less than the Xbox LIVE Marketplace). Those are two great Xbox LIVE Arcade games. The previous Galaga Legions deal was only available for a couple of days, so move on these soon. They may not be available for that price for long!

VGCharts reports Xbox Live Arcade Sales were topsy-turvy, as older games have taken a huge boost, while newer games had massive drops.

Metal Slug 3 debuts on the top of the All Games charts, with an estimated 7,700 units of sale.

It seems that after Christmas, many new Xbox 360 owners were searching the various games, buying up mostly older titles. Games in the # 40-75 recieved huge boosts in certain areas. Games such as Castlevainia: SOTN, Worms, Street Fighter, and such recieved boosts.

Microsoft and Toru Iwatani (he's the creator of Pac-Man) announced plans for a World Championship where the top 10 Xbox Live Arcade ranked Pac-Man players in the world will be flown to New York City to do battle. There'll be cherries and pretzels flying everywhere folks, it won't be pretty. There's not much info yet except that the contest will begin in "early 2007" and will presumably be won by someone with a lot of free time and abnormal reflexes.

Last week Microsoft put some order into Live Arcade by announcing Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, a new promotion which - funnily enough - sees Live Arcade receiving new titles on Wednesdays. Things jumped into action with Frogger appearing on Arcade on July 12, and so far it's been announced that Frogger will be followed by Cloning Clyde, Galaga, Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting and Pac-Man.

But naturally the Wednesday Live Arcade fun won't end there and according to Xbox Live Arcade group manager Greg Canessa Microsoft is targeting 30 Arcade titles "by the end of summer" and 50 "by the end of the calendar year."
