So far, Capcom isn't committing to patching Dead Rising. Yesterday afternoon, the company confirmed to 1UP that their zombie thriller was optimized for high-definition television sets, confirming suspicions from gamers, and explaining the problems standard definition users have been experiencing.
If you don't have an HDTV (like me), you've been struggling with Dead Rising -- and we're not talking about the ridiculous save system, either. The text on the screen was obviously formatted for users already having entered the HD Era, and not ones waiting for a more reasonable price, because the font size is essentially unreadable at its current miniscule size, even with component cables.
One of the Xbox's greatest features of allowing players to view the games in ether high-def or standard-def seems to have been forgot by Capcom in Dead Rising. Internet forums are flaming away on how the in-game's text are un-readable on normal SDTVs and users are claiming that the game must have been test only on high-def sets. This 'bug' effects nearly every portion of the game as the player cannot read anything in any conversation or receive the games instructions when viewed on a normal TV.

According to a Capcom spokesperson contacted by Eurogamer.net, the PAL version of Dead Rising will be just as violent as its North American counterpart. "Dead Rising's brilliant violence has been completely preserved for European audiences," he said.
