After publisher Electronic Arts wowed us with their military tank ice sculpture at their GDC 2009 event last week, we were given a sneak peek of exclusive single-player footage from developer DICE’s upcoming sequel, Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Building on the first game, Bad Company 2 promises more intense combat, more destruction, and more serious gameplay.

The demo opened with a snowy landscape that was bright and vibrant. Though Bad Company 2 runs on the same Frostbite engine as the first game, its graphics definitely look much sharper and more realistic. We watched as the first-person view of the single player mode led a small squad from target to target to fight the Russians. Once the enemies were encountered, things started to really heat up.

We saw rockets take down entire walls and a brilliantly explosive airstrike demolish soldiers and surrounding structures. The battle then led to a fast-paced vehicle chase, where the player had to shoot the enemy vehicle from his own. After taking down a couple of jeeps, an armed helicopter took over and started gunning the player down.

Unfortunately, EA won’t release this footage to the public eye yet (they won’t even show multiplayer until E3 this summer), but senior producer Patrick Bach announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have more weapons and gadgets to use and more vehicles with better physics and control.
