"Eden Games is making some much needed control, camera and inventory changes to "Alone in the Dark" before it arrives on PlayStation 3.

These changes are in direct response to criticisms of the Xbox 360 version. At the Leipzig Games Convention, Eurogamer reported news of a patch so Xbox 360 owners could enjoy the same changes.

While checking out the tweaked "Alone in the Dark" in a San Francisco hotel yesterday, game designer Emile Morel couldn't explicitly promise such a patch was coming."

A couple weeks ago French publisher Infogrames reported its own first quarter fiscal results, revealing a 91 percent rise in sales, which was driven in large part by a "strong recovery" of the U.S. business (i.e. Infogrames' subsidiary Atari). Today, Atari announced its own fiscal results, and Infogrames wasn't kidding: Atari posted a profit of $3.5 million for the quarter, a vast improvement from the net loss of $11.9 million during the same period last year."

Atari issues statement regarding AITD review scores (News)

Atari has issued a statement to Gamesindustry.biz about the recent reviews of Alone in the Dark. The company said that it's happy with UK reviews of AITD, but refused to comment when asked about the legal rumours that have started appearing on the web.

"We're happy with the review scores in the UK," a spokesperson explained. "We believe the game speaks for itself."

However, they then promptly pulled the review, and accusations of shady dealings were levelled against the site by Atari, who said that press copies had only been sent out the day before (the review has since been reinstated, and the 3/10 stands). Odd, seeing as many other European publications also had reviews go live this week, but whatever. 3. German site 4Players reviews the game. Gives it 68%. Then is threatened with legal action by Atari because, yes, Atari had no idea how the site got a copy of the game."

The german videogame site 4players.de reviewed the new 'Alone in the Dark' game and gave 68%. As we know that's quite a low score and influences your decision to buy the game or not. 4players said that 'Alone in the Dark' has a lame story and bad dialogue besides some technical issues like clipping and shitty artificial intelligence.
Atari wasn't happy to hear that and decided to threaten 4players to force them to take the review offline. Atari says that the review is based on a pirate downloaded version and is only set online to make profit through clicks. Atari wants to sue 4players about 50.000 Euros; if they do not take the review offline.

A release window for a demo of the Xbox 360 version of Atari's survival horror game Alone in the Dark has been given as "around launch" of the full game, which hits on June 20.

According to the Atari forums there's no confirmation yet on the demo coming to other platforms.

Alone in the Dark's received plenty of press over the last few months. But that's no bad thing as the game is promising to deliver an experience that survival ...

A downloadable demo for the Xbox 360 edition of Alone in the Dark will not arrive until the title nears launch, according to a forum post from Atari Europe community administrator Tenebra.

Tenebra had previously indicated that a demo was in the planning stages for PC, X360 and PS3, with a debut planned for early May. Claiming they were given incorrect information, the administrator later clarified that an Xbox 360 demo would hit around the game's release, with "no confirmations on other formats."

The 'Sinister Sightings' photo competition is now live on the official Alone in the Dark website www.CentralDark.com and will run until 26 June. Open to visitors from Europe, US and Australia, the competition invites intrepid photographers to upload their original photos of creepy and bizarre scenes witnessed in parks onto the photo gallery for the chance to win soundtrack CD's and ultimately an Xbox 360 console.

'Speaking to videogaming247, Atari has just confirmed that Alone in the Dark will hit Europe on June 20 in Europe and June 24 in the US.

The game has been put back from May to ensure the game's as good as it can be.

"The game has been delayed to allow Eden Games - obviously, they're an Atari-owned studio - to polish the game to an even higher standard. Wwe want to ddeliver the best possible experience to gamer, because we have a remarkable product.

"Atari has indicated that confirmation of a solid release date for the stunning-looking Alone in the Dark is likely to happen before the end of March.

"Just May for now, I'm afraid," said an Atari rep, speaking to vidoegaming247 this morning, "but we don't have a specific date I can give you now, unfortunately. In the next month we should have a better idea."

The spokesperson gave an emphatic "yes" when asked if the survival horror game would make its launch. Which is hella good news."

VideoGamer.com reports that Atari's quarter three financial results have revealed a number of new titles currently lined-up for release in the publishers coming fiscal year (ending March 31, 2009):

"The biggest is one we already know about, Alone in the Dark, which should release in May for Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and Wii. A PS3 version is to follow at a later date. Alone in the Dark is to be joined in the summer by PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 FPS Legendary.

New to our knowledge is Airborne Rangers for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. There's no info, but it could be a new game based on a game of the same name released in the late 80s by MicroProse. It saw players taking on the role of a sole airborne ranger and infiltrating enemy territory to complete objectives."

The French Newspaper Les Echos has an exclusive interview with Patrick Lelue where they talk about Alone in the Dark which is set to be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and PS2. Sure, you know Alone in the Dark 5 is coming. You also probably know that, while the protagonist's name is Edward Carnaby, he has absolutely nothing in common with the original, more dapper Carnaby of the first game. But what else do you know about the game? Not much, I'll tell you, because for a game that was supposed to be coming in March (itself a delay from a 2007 release), we've not heard much new info for a while. So don't act too surprised, then, at news it's been delayed for a second time, this time to September. Bummer.

What was once a teaser web site for Atari's horror title Alone in the Dark has now been updated with additional media and info, giving us a better idea of what to expect from the game. Also, thanks to a brief word from the official Atari Europe Forums, the release date for the game was narrowed down:

"The current release date is financial year 2007 - which, for Atari, ends on 31st March 2008. There isn't a set date as yet, the game looks pretty cool and in a very good shape as of the last version I've seen (beginning of Dec), so all very very promising."

Atari has just started its viral marketing campaign for Alone in the Dark as the mysterious website www.centraldark.com was launched. Atari sent out a press release with nothing more than this link. On the website, you can view a trailer which tells the story of what mystery lies under the ground of Central Park in New York. Beneath the trailer, however, there is a countdown which reaches zero on December 13.

Surely, this was all intended for Alone in the Dark, since Atari is the publisher of the game and the game itself is situated in and around Central Park. But what could happen on December 13? View the trailer yourself after the jump.

PS2 and Wii have joined the platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PS3) set to receive the new Alone in the Dark game from Atari.

So, PS2 and Wii versions are being developed by Hydravision (Eden Games is handling the other versions), and feature the same storyline as the previously announced outings for the revival of the venerable survival horror series.

According to Atari, PS2 and Wii versions of Alone in the Dark push respective hardware "hard", "incorporating many of the gameplay features found in the Xbox 360 version".

Despite of messages saying Alone in the Dark not coming out until 2008, Atari today made an end of this rumors. The game is now officially scheduled for Q4 2007, meaning the game has some delay from the original date, but it is still scheduled for this year on all platforms.

Clinging to a ledge 20 odd stories above Central Park, nearby windows exploding in flame, and a malevolent, supernatural force on the loose, Carnby finds himself in another sticky situation in Alone in the Dark.

At X06 in Barcelona Thursday, a team from Eden Games walked IGN through the first mission of the second episode of Alone in the Dark on the 360, the time ever running on the console. While still early in development -- the game is slated to ship sometime next year, and we're guessing Q3 -- Alone in the Dark is an interesting take on the franchise and the genre.
