What else have we got? Well, the split-screen four-player is looking ace, as you can see in the big screenshot below.
Then there's the new ability to do tricks while flying through the air, seen here, although we doubt the game is going trick-based. It's likely just for show, and maybe to get a little boost on landing it well.
Also, Nintendo is promising some 'never-before seen characters' for the series. While we highly doubt that means Solid Snake and Sonic will be lining up on the grid a la Super Smash Bros Brawl, maybe we'll see Samus make her Kart debut? Wario and Waluigi are in and you can see them in the screenshots.

The game will have 16 new tracks and another 16 returning circuits and there are 10 battle arenas too. Did we mention 12-player online racing? Just imagine that for a minute. 12 human players in seamless racing action. This could be the start of great things for online Wii gaming.
Check out the screens - which may take some time as there are 170 of them - then get saving up for the game. After seeing how much love has been lavished on Super Smash Bros Brawl, there's surely no way Mario Kart Wii is going to disappoint.
Above: Nice and SNESy does it. Don't worry there are plenty of new tracks too!
