Having just finished Persona 3 last week and started Persona 4 Golden a few days ago, I don't think "emo" is even remotely appropriate in describing any of the characters in the two games. Regardless, the article was a great read.

The ones I was personally thinking of were Kirby's Dream Course (platformer to golf game) and Pac-Man World Rally (point-based arcade game to kart racer).

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about Dream Course. My all-time favourite Kirby game, bar none. Weird, huh?

While I was definitely expecting to see Mario stuff and Metal Gear Acid on here, Kingdom Hearts would never have occurred to me. mostly because 'Spin-Off' usually spells crap, and Kingdom Hearts is anything but. No Daxter or Secret Agent Clank, though, which is odd. They weren't exactly 'weird', but from what I've heard, they were pretty crap.

No C&C: Renegade ? Original: RTS // Spin-Off: FPS WTF were you thinking... it even combined FPS-RTS on the MP mode Command and Conquer Renegade wasnt just a Spin-Off, it was ONE HELL OF A GOOD GAME IMO, and the MP was awesome !! seriously, this should have been on the list...

links cross bow training is short, but it's actually a pretty good game

Funny reading this article and realising that the two portable games I've probably spent more time on than any others are Clash of Heroes and Ac!d 2. Both are unexpectedly good and insanely addictive.

I kicked a$$ in DDR: Mario Mix.

Nier from NIER should be there. He completely unique and awesome. He's completely relentless, he's older, and he's a father. There are not a lot of fathers, or people that start at 39 in games. And few are as totally, brutally, relentless in their quest to save their daughter. He literally goes through everything and everyone in his way. Caim from Drakengard 1 should be there too. He's a rarity. A sociopath, who likes killing, killing, more killing, and his sister. A unusual and neutrel hero done in a fun way, as opposed to grinding and boring.

    ...wait... what?

I forgot that I was incredibly excited for the Wii Zapper and "Link's Crossbow Training." I kept the box and everything. I legitimately may have played it for like 20 minutes before going back to Super Smash Brothers or whatever else I was playing at that time.

wait, i meant Knuckles' Chaotix was gonna be Sonic Crackers
  • RockstarJAy - January 5, 2013 5:51 p.m.

Sonic Crackers was originally gonna be Knuckles' Chaotix, does a prototype count?

I always thought that Konami should make a new Mesal Gear Solid as a psn game. It would basically be a huge fan service with all their other ip's showing up the game.

If this were written 2 months later I'd bet Metal Gear Rising would be on here too. Stealth Espionage Action to Bayonetta-brawler, that's weird.
  • ertywerty - January 4, 2013 8:35 p.m.

Ya i agree...I like how they are changing up the series and are willing to try something new... Going from guns to a sword in this game, yet still keeping it within the metal gear universe.. They could have just had some guy with a sword chopping alot of things and make it like ninja gaiden rip off with a generic story.
  • BladedFalcon - January 5, 2013 10:13 a.m.

Love how you say that as if the series had never used swords before, (hint: they did in MGS2, and with the very same character they are using for MGR) and as if the character in question hadn't evolved to be the perfect fit for this style of game. Just because it's a diferent genre, doesnt make it automatically weird. Specially if the series in question has always presented characters and ideas that would lend themselves to the genre. That, and i dunno if you guys got the memo, but MGR DOES have some ammonut of stalth in it still.

I agree, it doesn't strike me as weird at all - quite natural in-fact. The style of play is suited to the character, so you have the mortal snake with his sneaking stealth (as confrontation can lead to quick death) and then Raiden's hi-octane sword fighting (because this guy can afford to go in full steam). What WOULD have been weird was if Raiden played in a predominantly stealth style like snake. No-one's been promoting this as a "Stealth Espionage" game at all (quite the opposite), so i'm not quite sure where people are getting that from?
  • C.King - January 4, 2013 7:30 p.m.

what games are the characters in the first pick from?
