News-flares from the SF universe...

Looks like Doctor Strange may have finally snagged its director. Variety reports that Marvel are in talks with Scott Derrickson - helmer of Sinister , The Exorcism Of Emily Rose and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil - to bring their master of the mystic arts to the big screen. No word on who will play the sorcerer supreme but Dallas Buyers Club 's Jared Leto is rumoured to be frontrunner for the role...

Looking forward to Jupiter Ascending ? You may have to place yourself in cryogenic suspension,... Warner Bros has just announced that the epic Wachowski space opera has slipped release dates from 18 July to 6 February 2015. The studio says they need more time to complete the film's mammoth FX demands. "With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time,” says domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman. “A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.”

Edge Of Tomorrow and Looper star Emily Blunt is rumoured to be in line for a role in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice . Given the abundance of DC superheroes already squeezed into this one is it too much to hope that she's playing Zatanna?

It seems that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, directors of Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance , have less than fond memories of their 2012 encounter with the flaming-skulled biker. They recently tweeted:

That's one movie scrubbed from the showreel, we imagine...
