TV and movies invade your Xbox 360

Gaming news blog Kotaku has more information on the pricing, download speeds and storage choices for the new media content available on 360.

HD TV will cost you 240 Microsoft points, or $3, while standard def television shows are 160 points, or $2. As for movies, the high-def ones are 480 points, or $6, and the regular ones are 320 points, or $4. Classic films are priced a little differently (as if they’re worth any less!) at 360 points ($4.50) for HD and 240 points ($3) for SD.

If you stopped reading this article at any point today and actually tried downloading a show or movie, you may have noticed something –-it’s slow... real slow. Microsoft has assured everyone that this is simply due to the high demand on the service’s first day. With a normal traffic day, they expect you to be able to fully download a film in about two and a half hours while beginning to view it after only 10 minutes.

Finally - and this is actual bad news, not just temporary bad news - you won’t be able to transfer the TV shows off your console. No portable media player, no nothing. Okay... back to the movie channel, then.
