    How about Assassins Creed 2? The first was basically an impressive tech demo but the sequel actually had proper actual (varied) gameplay. And was awesome.

    Definitely agree with this. The first game was good at first but got boring after the first assassination when it turned out you had to do the same little side missions for every one. AC2 was a massive improvement in almost every way. Except for the facial animations, those were still really bad.

    The games you list are not sequels to games that were forgettable. Including Sonic 2 crosses the line.

    No, they are games with vastly superior sequals, so you are right. And, to me at least, Sonic 2, 3 and sonic & knuckles made Sonic 1 pretty forgettable. Maybe it was my age.

    I'd have liked to see Army of Two on there. I've played both, and I thought the first one was a bit crap- and until recently, I thought that was the opinion of the general populus. Then the sequel came out and I loved it to bits.
