I'm pretty excited about the first new-gen Gears of War - not least because it looks to be taking a step forward by looking way, way back to when the series was billed as a full-on survival horror (before, presumably, Cliff Bleszinski became fascinated with how raw beef joints looked when shot with high-caliber weaponry).
Turns out that not only is a Gears of War 4 beta coming in Spring 2016, but there's a way to get into it before anyone else. As Gamespot reports, the blurb for the Gears of War: Ultimate Editions Xbox One console bundle (out in August) reveals that buyers will get "early access" to the beta, alongside other promotional perks. There's no word on how early that will be, nor what the beta will entail, only that bundle purchasers need to play Ultimate Edition before 1st March next year, while logged into Xbox Live, to qualify.
