The best special attacks EVER

Hadouken! Shoryuken! Shinryuken! You know exactly what we mean, even if the words themselves are a mystery. Special attacks are what make fighting games great. But learning all those command strings can be such a chore so we thought we'd save you the hassle and bring the best ones to you in one awesome video.

We've collected the best moves from some 30 games on consoles old and new. How many have you done?

Do be warned, though - there is some blood, a little light impaling and more than one irreperably damaged spine ahead (all virtual of course), so that's why there's an age gate. Enjoy :)

Above: Seong Mina sure hopes that weapon is clean

They didn't have even one attack from Bloody Roar? They had the best finishers ever.

Seems like every time I read something disappointing on here, it's from the UK side. Hmmm.
  • NadaNuff - December 4, 2008 9:59 p.m.

King's Illusion Kick super from KOF '94 and Ukyo's Bust super from Samurai Shodown III are the best special moves ever. Ryu Hayabusa's Izuna Drop is a close third.
  • Strydorman - August 30, 2008 2:35 a.m.

    No Primal Rage either?
  • pokepoo - August 29, 2008 3:23 p.m.

link and soul calibur are the best.
  • Rex_Maztar - August 28, 2008 10:27 p.m.

i'm surprised they didn't have that flaming tornado move that Inferno used all the time from Soul Calibur 2
  • GR_JustinTowell - August 28, 2008 3:48 p.m.

You know, when I was a kid, I thought Ryu was saying 'A frightening spoon kick' when he performed his Hurricane Kick.
  • BurntToShreds - September 7, 2008 9:27 p.m.

How could you have not included Cable's HYPER VIPER BEAM?
  • cdy757 - September 6, 2008 9:58 a.m.

c'mon there should of been a 100x bigbang kamehameha that is the ultimate move

  • doug-e-fresh - September 1, 2008 4:48 p.m.

  • koompi - August 29, 2008 11:08 p.m.

  • Tomsta666 - August 28, 2008 6:02 p.m.

I can't believe a montage of the best fighting game special moves doesn't have any from Rival Schools and/or Project Justice!!! Those moves were batshit insane :S
  • jk119313 - March 15, 2009 5:11 p.m.

no cervantes teleport to flaming dash thing from sc4???
  • SpicyPoyratez - March 15, 2009 5:01 p.m.

no dio brando steamroller combo? the soul calibur ones are disappointing because I could point out so many better ones from that game, and from tekken as well. I love gamesradar, but this was disappointing. oh, and the one from rumblin roses, the elbow? god, that was not even entertaining in the slightest. well, there's always next time guys.
  • lightsideluc - March 12, 2009 9:24 p.m.

No Dragon Claw? The most intense original character for MUGEN (As well as the only 3-D original character for it) could link any three of his four special moves into a massive combo and when done successfully the third super would get souped up and become a computer-crashing spectacle of flaming particle effects.

This is a fail list. Quality over quantity GR. Where the heck are EWGF, Shin Shoryuken, and Raging Demon? Also those throws were lame they shouldnt qualify as special attacks. Hopefully you'll make an update of this that is better thought out.

the pogo stick move in soul calibur 2!
