Robin is a good choice, they clearly need to choose icons for the series when making Smash and its frankly better than Chrom. Given that Robin is a mix of Magic and Sword, and his/her trailer implies that you cant use Magic too long so you have to constantly switch between them. Nice to see Fire Emblem get bigger representation, especially after the success of Awakening. Still, we NEED MORE VILLAINS.
  • C.King - July 15, 2014 3:12 a.m.

"NEED MORE VILLAINS" you can try thinking about it this way if ya really want villains, the only difference between the hero and the villain is the hero has the bigger kill count. both sides kill looking out for their people but one side has more survivors to tell the stories
  • shawksta - July 15, 2014 1:13 p.m.

Nice idea, but i still want more villain representation. You wanna have Nintendo stars, you should also include great villains that started the whole adventure.
  • C.King - July 15, 2014 3:38 p.m.

you could seriously count robin for that actually, oh just realized his final smash... bummer he could've had a transformation so we got bowser, gannon, donkey kong, king dedede, meta knight, wario, and wolf. dark pit as a pallet swap they could add magickoopa, fawful, king k rool. alot of villains are assist trophies though like dark samus and that samurai from f zero
  • shawksta - July 15, 2014 7:34 p.m.

That's a spoiler, but technically Robin of the future isnt the same as the Present Robin, its arguable though and given how clearly protective he was at the reveal trailer clearly shows its the present Robin. DK isnt a villain, not now atleast. And Wario, Ganon and Wolf arent even back, yet.
  • C.King - July 16, 2014 3:01 a.m.

was thinking about the spoiler deal but we on the second page so figured it was okay. technically he's still grima even if it isn't a power he's proud of. he's out of his world so there isn't much need for restraint with the aid of the smash ball. still can't get over giving Emmeryn brain damage... don't they still make those mario(who you'll see beating up on peach and the other way around) vs dk puzzles? plus no one in mario party/kart is innocent! i think wolf is the only one with a real shot of being cut and even then since we got both marth and lucina(i know we don't know how she plays yet) his odds are good, safe. everyone cut from between melee to brawl was a "clone" even though they were awesome. pichu and dr mario but especially pichu, why did you leave me?! ganon is a bit too iconic and reoccurring to be cut but i think it's finally time to edit his move set, right? wario is really unique and has his own popular franchise so he should be good too.
  • shawksta - July 16, 2014 7:04 p.m.

There's no way Wario is gonna be out, though it would be nice for him to get a make over, fix his moveset a bit to fit Warioland along with Warioware. All 3 star fox characters are probably coming back since technically speaking, Roy is back but in the form of Lucina.
  • C.King - July 17, 2014 12:01 a.m.

then what's the deal with "And Wario, Ganon and Wolf arent even back, yet."?
  • shawksta - July 17, 2014 6:18 p.m.

Nothing Im just saying that they arent even here yet which i find odd. So far into the game and Bowser is currently the only real villain from the confirmed roster. King Dedede technically should be one, but he's 2 faced in the Kirby series, and Brawl made sure he wasnt actually a villain.
  • C.King - July 17, 2014 6:31 p.m.

really the weirdest this is game and watch was shown but not confirmed. also it seems like they're having alot of fun with the reveal cinematics with these games, probably to make up for no subspace cutscenes. they're probably waiting for particular characters to reveal along with them or just working on the cinematics
  • shawksta - July 17, 2014 7:42 p.m.

I think the issue with Game and Watch is the fact that he wont actually be confirmed on the site, but will be a locked character. Sakurai still wants locked characters and he even mentioned that it was out of the ordinary for Luigi to be shown, he only ever did it because it was the Year of Luigi. Yeah, im loving these trailers man. Frankly, all the newcomer trailers had more action than the Subspace Emmisary as a whole.
  • XxBIGDADDYxX - July 14, 2014 12:02 p.m.

they actually released 4 by accident, if you look at the pictures on falcons page, they also show KING DEDEDE!!! hes in the picture of falcon in the blue falcon hitting him along with sheik and yoshi
  • shawksta - July 14, 2014 12:07 p.m.

Dude, he's already been confirmed Check the website
  • slimjim441 - July 15, 2014 9:47 a.m.

  • superdodi - July 14, 2014 10:43 a.m.

Am I the only one who still wishes for Phoenix Wright have some representation in smash? If you remember he still is one of the nintendo exclusives third party franchises
  • Frieza - July 14, 2014 9:57 a.m.

Gosh, so many thoughts about today's reveal... Did more FE characters really deserve a standalone 3 minute trailer? Why does FE get more reps than F-Zero, Metroid, and possibly Kirby and Donkey Kong? Is FE super popular in Japan or something? Why does Marth with a vagina get in and not someone more interesting? I never played FE, but I'm sure there are more interesting and diverse characters than her. Did anyone else feel like the FE characters were completely overshadowed by Captain Falcon? When are we getting a new F-Zero game?
  • shawksta - July 14, 2014 12:14 p.m.

Fire Emblem awakening was more or less a very successful game for both japan and here in the US back last year. It was a given they were gonna get represenation. Falcon's entire reveal was kind of the point to overshadow them, so many damn people keep asking and being worried if Falcon is getting in or not so there's their answer. Sakurai literally said that same question:
  • Frieza - July 14, 2014 8:05 p.m.

But does the franchise deserve 4 reps? FE isn't the most recognizable franchise Nintendo has after all. It just seems overkill to have 4 reps when those spots could have gone to more recognizable or diverse characters. Falcon is a fan favorite on top of a veteran, so I'm not sure why people were worried he wasn't going to get in. That being said, he was the only good part of the trailer for me. Why doesn't Miyamoto make a new F-Zero? I don't buy the "there's nothing new I can do with it" excuse. I refuse to believe he can't see potential in the franchise.
  • shawksta - July 14, 2014 9:14 p.m.

Again, Fire Emblem awakening saved the franchise from dying into obscurity. Though i will agree Robin didnt need to be here, the same can be said to certain past Smash Bros characters. It wouldve been just fine with just Robin along with Marth and Ike. Miyamoto said he wanted to keep it internal as far as the development goes, given both Star Fox and F-Zero havent been internet on their latest outings back in the GC era, for both F-Zero and Star Fox, and he IS starting on Star Fox, maybe afterwards F-Zero is next.
  • C.King - July 15, 2014 3:34 a.m.

in the games u essentially can decide who her mother is and customize her in many ways. fire emblem really gets you feeling for them with the possible perma death and development and back story. there are alot of cool characters but lucina is still high quality herself. plus she was sorta the face of the game in the ads. the games did pretty well here and after smash bros brought fire emblem to attention in the west, awakening was a big chance many took up to try out the nintendo franchise if they haven't already. if chrom was a playable character too then it might've been too much but... star fox's trio all with land masters. come on. this isn't too bad. as for the other games may not have gotten reps captain falcon's moveset was already completly made up except for the final smash so source material for move for other characters is a issue there. Samus is practically alone in her world except for ridely and some very minor characters, maybe her rival bounty hunters but idk. kirby's cast only has the painter girl, the spear waddle dee( with the king using them as munition that'd be awkward), ya know who would be cool though? prince fluff. DK actually has the dk crew, dixy kong and maybe king k rool. with recency in mind could be cranky kong
  • DarthEnderX - July 14, 2014 9:29 a.m.

Also, why do they ALL gotta be swordsmen. Why couldn't we get some Tharja in there. She's like the most well-known character in Awakening.
  • BladedFalcon - July 14, 2014 noon

Because you're dealing with Nintendo. When have they ever done what's most logical?
  • DarthEnderX - July 14, 2014 9:26 a.m.

At first, I thought adding 3(4) more Fire Emblem characters all at once was kind of ridiculous. But then I realized that Male and Female Robin are likely just a costume/voice swap, using the exact same move set. Then I wondered if Lucina and Chrom weren't going to be that as well, given that Chrom, like Female Robin, was sort of an afterthought at the end of the trailer.
  • BladedFalcon - July 14, 2014 12:02 p.m.

I think chrom is only part of a final smash, or a trophy assist.
  • shawksta - July 14, 2014 12:14 p.m.

Nah, Chrom is lucina's final Smash actually.
