SSX 2012 prepares to get tricky with retro DLC

Electronic Arts has announced that the next DLC pack for this year's SSX reboot will revisit some of the series' formative moments with a Tricky-inspired mountain, reborn classic characters and music tracks. The Mount Eddie pack thankfully isn't what it sounds like, presumably because David Arquette don't do hardcore; but what it is is a new mountain designed as a throwback to the series' standout title, SSX Tricky.

Mt. Eddie will come bundled with music tracks from and inspired by SSX's early entries, and will be available come May 1 alongside the Classic Characters pack – which bundles together seven SSX 3/Tricky characters, each with a custom board. The DLC items will set you back $5.99 apiece or you can get both for $7.99. Xbox 360 prices haven't been announced by EA, but expect prices around the usual 480/640 MSP mark.

I can't wait for this to drop... an excuse to revisit SSx is always welcome (i hope they include N.E.R.D's Rockstar in there)

I think it's actually the first tima I was wishing for a DLC to come, and this already looks awesome. Can't wait :)

This sounds pretty cool if a little pricey. I was disappointed with the "costumes" on the game - sure there are about 200 variations on each costume but they're all just palette swaps. I kind of wanted free customisation like in SSX3.

I wish the whole game was more like SSX Tricky, I hate crevaces you can fall down and die in, I hate having to stay out of the shade in case I die, I hate having to wear an O2 canister because if I don't keep using it I'll die. As a result I only play about 10% of the available tracks. Should have just kept the Demo.

Nonsense. 9 out of the 35 tracks are Deadly Descents.

Fair enough, only 9 are Deadly Decsents, those aren't the only ones you can die on though. You seem to have unlocked all the tracks, maybe you could count up how many of the 35 tracks don't require any 'Gear' in order for you to play them?

Not even all the deadly descents themselves require gear. It may be tricky, but most are doable without any gear. I rarely swith from armour and wingsuit. I have only found about five tracks that I can't complete without gear, namely a few wingsuit tracks and few thermal tracks, but some of those I feel are possible but hard as balls.
