Spielberg's playing games

Okay. Is it just us or does Steven Spielberg have work to do? There’s Indy 4 for starters. Pump-action Indiana Jones adventures tend not to produce themselves but instead of kicking back with the script and a nice chardonnay, the Great Beard has decided to sign an unprecedented production deal with EA games.

EA are the team behind such knob-twiddlers as The Lord Of The Rings video game tie-in; Spielberg is on board to create three brand new titles for the games goliath. His principal focus will be on story, design, concept and artistic visualisation… so pretty much the lot then.

“I have been playing EA games for years," Spielberg said. "Having watched the game industry grow from a niche into a major creative force in entertainment, I have a great deal of respect for EA's understanding of the interactive format. I'm looking forward to working closely with the team in Los Angeles.”

"There is no greater storyteller than Steven Spielberg," Larry Probst, EA Chairman and CEO, stated. "In addition to his gift for pleasing movie audiences, he has an innate understanding of games and how to immerse players into a fantastic world of action and characters."

To be honest, an original Spielberg video game does sound like a born winner and it’s captured the imagination of the gamers here at TF. Good for you Steven, now let’s make sure you don’t get sidetracked by one of those little things… What are they called again? Oh yes… MOVIES!
