Sega recently stopped by the office to let us try out the full-body racing experience that is Sonic Free Riders. Behold, as the illustrious Chris Antista steps on his virtual hoverboard and leaves Sonic and Eggman in the dust. Marvel at his feats of athleticism as Chris jumps, spins, and doggy paddles his way to a respectable finish, whilst Sega's own Brand Manager David Allen gives us a full play-by-play of the action.

anyone else hear the dolphin sound effect for a second at around 3:48, just after Chris starts the last lap ? i know its in Plants vs. Zombies as well as im sure most of you know

I can't believe it but that looked like fun. My only problems was how it didn't pick you up sometimes and made you hit a wall. And that soda can.

Toooo slooooow for a Sonic game imho. I guess that's the dual Kinect issues, though, of the lag needing addressing AND that a lot of "gamers" won't be able to keep up with the physical demands of decent, Sonicesque speeds. but if that's the case why do this with a character associated with extreme velocity at all? Probably wouldn't seem AS slow if it wasn't a Sonic game. Not win at all and the "doggy paddle"? Sod right off before all his dignity is eroded. Good sport Chris, good sport. BTW-WTF's with these new nonsensical recaptcha words?

So this video seems to dismiss a couple of the issues i was having with kinect. Will the games be fun? Probably. Will you look like an idiot playing them? Probably, but consider how cool you look sitting with a controller in your... oh wait. I think this is a perfect example of what the kinect will do well, which expectantly doesn't bode well for the hardcore gamer. Not that it matters. We still have our Halos and our Modern Warfares.

Big the Catish, hilarious! Great vid Have to say I was slightly impressed with the game. I would much rather play that than use the tony hawk ride board or wii fit, but maybe that isn't saying much.
