Skyrim interview: You ask, Bethesda answers

Want to know more about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Join the club. Better yet, visit Bethesda’s official Elder Scrolls forums where the developer is hosting its first fan interview for the latest installment in the epic, open-world RPG series.

So, if you’ve got any burning questions for the folks at Bethesda Game Studios who are developing the game, visit the forums and ask your question. You never know, it may get answered! And if you feel intimidated by the extra hardcore questions posed by the sorts of fans who’ve finished every Elder Scrolls game in history no less than five times, you can never go wrong with a lighthearted query. Take user Swarley Swazenoskie, for example, who asks, “Will there be dragons?”

Our favorite fan question so far: "Will there be dragons?"

Above: A gameplay trailer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. You should definitely watch it. If you’ve already seen it, we suggest that you watch it again anyway. It certainly can’t hurt

Answers to fan questions will be posted in the coming weeks on Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls forums as well as on the official Bethesda blog.

My question pertains to the combat system. This is essentially the one aspect of the game that we will be using the most, so I believe that it is the most important. In previous TES games (even fallout) there was no real weight behind the combat mechanic. One had to hack lifelessly at the onscreen opponent until one characters potions runs out. Now, while this D&D system works well in board games, I don't believe it holds water in a video game. I can see that the system has had an overhaul, but to what degree? Are the reaction to the blows seen in the video 'in game' as such, or are these only animated death blows once you have 'ginded' the health down? Could you please explain in greater detail the upgrades made to this system?

The "Will there be dragons?" question was actually making fun of the game trailers Geoff interview.
