You know you guys STILL haven't fixed the slide show compatibility with Chrome. Given how many articles use this format it's getting VERY annoying. To the point I've begun to browse less and less on GR.
  • Zeedar - November 24, 2012 3:46 a.m.

It does work with chrome, you just have to turn off adblock.
  • Manguy17 - November 24, 2012 5:49 a.m.

im using adblock on chrome with no issues..
  • CrashmanX - November 25, 2012 10:33 a.m.

Sure enough that seemed to fix it. I'm really curious as to why that is.
  • FOZ - November 24, 2012 9:59 a.m.

I had to disable Adblock on Chrome, but it works with Adblock Plus.

I think its a stretch to say VII and X-2 and therefore X are set in the same universe....
  • RollingSun2000 - November 24, 2012 3:51 a.m.

This ^ " the future, when travelling to distant planets becomes possible..." What??!! I don't think anyone was suppose to take Kazushige Nojima serious. He basically revisited a concept from FFVII. He must have been stuck for an explanation and came out with that.
  • SentientSquidMachine - November 24, 2012 10:10 a.m.

Yeah, I call BS. Whatever planet FFVII takes place on, didn't even have the technology to launch people into orbit until Shin-Ra made that rocket for Cid. So unless your saying that the Ancients came from the FFX planet 1000 years before and that Shinra was an ancient and.....actually. I'm going to stop. This is just silly.
  • alex-catdaddy-gipson - December 16, 2012 7:59 p.m.

actually shinra wasn't human kinda u learn that on Japanese version of ffx2 and they said the ancients came from a different planet them selfs
  • alex-catdaddy-gipson - December 16, 2012 7:53 p.m.

actually not a stretch x2 even mention it its like thousand years before 7 and they all have the same aeons/summons that look exactly a like and the same name
  • Gabezilla84 - November 23, 2012 7:54 p.m.

I have recently started to imagine all the Bungie games taking place in the same universe as well (Pathways Into Darkness, Abuse, Marathon, Myth, Halo)...indeed, the Halo games seem to suggest a connection with the Marathon trilogy, with the Marathon logo making an appearance here and there. Excellent and fascinating article David!
  • AuthorityFigure - November 23, 2012 6:29 p.m.

Oh yeah, two games called 'Final Fantasy' really are "seemingly unrelated".
  • Zeedar - November 24, 2012 3:48 a.m.

Every game in the series is supposed to be set in a different world. That's why they are seemingly unrelated.
  • AuthorityFigure - November 28, 2012 1:16 a.m.

But they're not "seemingly" unrelated - that is, two games with the same name do not seem to be different to the reasonable observer.
  • archnite - November 23, 2012 6:07 p.m.

But aren't there Hitman games in the Kane and Lynch universe meaning they are the real ones and Agent 47 is a product that then included the two psychopaths?
  • Joaovpo - November 23, 2012 5:20 p.m.

So, in Final Fantasy 7 you have materias - crystal spheres that gives you power. In a scene on FF7, they say on these crystals are stored the memory and knowledge of the ancients. How do the characters in FF10 gained power? Through the SPHERE grid..., their knowledge became the Materia!
  • CUFCfan616 - November 23, 2012 4:52 p.m.

but are all gtas in the same universe? how many different Liberty Cities, Vice Cities and San Andreas can there be? Unless they're twin cities of each other or something
  • darron13 - November 25, 2012 5:02 a.m.

Nope, the devs stated that from GTA IV upwards, its a different universe.
  • kjadf12329 - November 23, 2012 4:45 p.m.

Red Faction: Guerrilla and Saints Row. Ultor corporation.
  • taokaka - November 23, 2012 3:26 p.m.

While it hasn't been confirmed and it could actually just be an easter egg with no significance, Kratos's armor from god of war 2 and the blades of athena can be found in an armory in heavenly sword. It doesn't contradict any of the storyline of god of war so it could mean heavenly sword takes place in the near future after god of war has concluded and maybe my dream game of a crossover between the two is a possibility.
  • manu_erizo - November 25, 2012 7:08 a.m.

Except it does clash with God of War. The God Armor is destroyed by the Colossus of Rhodes right before Zeus kills Kratos. As for the Blades of Athena, they turn into the Blades of Exile in 3.
