RadarPlays - DuckTales (NES)

Last Friday at PAX East Capcom surprised many with the announcement of DuckTales Remastered, a remake of what many see as an underrated 8-bit classic. But the GamesRadar staff was too excited to wait for the XBLA/PSN/Wii U rerelease this summer, so we plugged in the original NES version for this week’s retro RadarPlays. Henry, Cooper, and special guest/unofficial DuckTales speed runner Chris Hoffman take a look at how well the original holds up today. Woo-oo!

Want to hang out with GamesRadar's editors while taking a look at retro games, new releases, and totally random experiences? RadarPlays is for you. Mondays we'll be checking out blasts from the past on RadarPlays Retro, Wednesdays we change things up to whatever we feel like playing with RadarPlays Shuffle, and Friday is packed with the strangest titles you’ve never (hopefully) heard of in RadarPlays Freaky. We'll also release RadarPlays for all the new releases, so be sure to check back!

Man... even though I don't remember this game that well, that brought so many memories, and it feels really special to see it again! ^^ BTW, Big mad props to Chris Hoffman who really impressed me with his skills at this game, he knew what he was doing even in areas that looked borderline ridiculous, such as the path to that hidden extra treasure.I wonder if the remake will retain such secret areas? Also, just to add about your comment in the music. my understanding is that the music is being done by Jake "Virt" Kauffman, who is notable for doing music that has a very old school vibe even on original soundtracks such as the one in BloodRayne: Betrayal. And it should be noted that in said game, you were able to hear the 8-bit versions of those ORIGINAL compositions. As such, I have no doubt in my mind that in the remake, we'll be getting an option to listen to the original 8-bit music as well ^^

This makes me want to pull out the old cartridge, start a-blowing and play!

I'm not sure if I could say Duck Tales is better than Darkwing Duck. They were on similar (or identical maybe) engines, but had very different mechanics. I doubt the demand for Darkwing Duck is nearly high enough for a remake, but still, it would be icing on the health-restoring cupcake to see a cameo by the great Drake Mallard.

Obligatory woo-ooo! Chris was great and since I was born after this game was made and have heard only good things about it, I will pick up this game when it comes out!
