I sadly missed out on this one the first time it came out, but i always have been interested in it. Will probably get it, eventually. Since I still have a lot to play as it is >>; Also "Linear, one-way path" Um... How come this is a negative in this game, but not applied to say, any recent CoD game, FFXIII or Killzone?

Good point, well made. The environments in SW were often so vast and open that it hardly ever felt linear to me, certainly felt more open than FFXIII & KZ, as you mention.

Well, agreed that linearity isn't necessarily bad. And I'm not arguing that in this game is bad, it probably is. It's just the double standard that annoys me. This game is linear, and that gets highlighted as one of the bad points of the game. But CoD is linear and shorter and gets called cinematic and explosive and rarely gets flak because it's just moving from shooting people in one area to another with no real variation.

I see what you're saying, but I just think it's as bad when applied here. The way I see it, there are much worse reviewer trends than that. Things like "This game only has you do one thing throughout its entirety" or if we're talking about franchises(Like Dynasty Warriors) it's "This is basically the same thing as last time, therefore it's worse". While other games like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Soul Calibur 4, Call of Duty: Whatever and Assassin's Creed: We're Still Milking This Cow get a pass.

True enough. I mean, those are also pretty big incongruences that annoy the hell out of me, and are worse trends than this, but this still annoys me however, since none of that shit should be given a free pass to begin with. Saying a last gen game feels "archaic" because it's linear it's like saying an 80's car is old because it uses wheels >_>

If they made a Stranger's Wrath every once a year for 7 years then they'd rightfully criticize it. This is a 7-year-old-game. Call of Duty came out 8 years ago. It was innovative then. Now it's *THE SAME FRIGGIN STUFF* all over. If they revamped the original CoD, they'd review it as an 8 year old game, not as if it was made today. That's like criticizing the plot of Missile Command... (well, sortakinda)
