N.O.V.A. 2 will be a timed exclusive for Xperia Play

Gameloft's mobile sci-fi shooter N.O.V.A. will be getting a sequel, but if you want to play it before everyone else you'll have to buy an Xperia Play, or as most refer to it, the "PlayStation Phone."

The Xperia Play launches in the UK early next month, presumably followed quickly by a launch in the US. N.O.V.A. 2 will be one of the first titles available for the device, and though it can run on other Android phones, it won't be pushed to the regular Android Market until one month later.

Once an exclusive mobile developer, Gameloft has become a bastion of support for emerging smartphone platforms. The publisher was one of the first to create exclusive titles for Samsung's Galaxy Tab Android tablet and will be launching multiple 3D mobile games for the upcoming glasses-free 3D phone from AT&T, the LG Thrill.

So it comes as no surprise that Gameloft is throwing a bone to the Xperia Play as well. This is likely the first of many titles from the publisher that will be making their way to Sony's gaming-centric phone.

But it's already out on Iphone, so it's not really an exclusive in the first place. XD

Sounds pretty awesome. I've never owned a smart phone, but he Xperia Play is looking like it may be my first one.

It has to be better then the iPhone one. I didn't even finish it because I cannot fucking stand the terrible controls.

It's already on iPhone so if you want to "play it before everyone else" youwill have to invent time travel

I already beat NOVA2 on my Ipod touch, but i would probably run through it again when the Android version releases.

God, I can't decide which I want more, the Xperia Play or the Droid Bionic. I am skeptical of the specs on the XP and how dedicated Sony will actually be, but it looks like a great phone so far, but I just have a soft spot for Motorola because the Droid series has done really well. I love my OG Droid. To quote a song title from He Is Legend: Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

    It doesn't matter if it's a timed exclusive. When it's released, it'll still be a poorly-designed, soulless piece-of-crap.
