New viral videos for The Amazing Spider-Man: watch now

The Amazing Spider-Man has released a pair of new viral videos focusing on Rhys Ifans' character, Dr. Curt Connors, perhaps better known as The Lizard.

The first is a recruitment video for Oscorp's intern scheme, with Connors explaining the company's interest in herpetology, the study of reptiles. Connors is keen to harness a reptile's "knack for survival", its ability to cope with the loss of a limb seeming particularly relevant to the Doctor himself.

The second video shows Connors meeting a new batch of interns, and also features some behind the scenes material, in which Ifans explains how the one-armed Connors feels "cheated by God."

On top of that, there's also a first proper look the transformation that brings his research to a shocking head…

Take a look at the new footage, below…

That process of metamorphosis looks rather frightening, doesn't it? All in all, we're feeling more confident in Ifans' take on The Lizard, having initially been a little underwhelmed by what seemed to be just a big green wrecking ball, a poor man's Hulk, if you will. However, Ifans' portrayal of the human Connors looks to have swerved that danger nicely.

The Amazing Spider-Man opens in the UK on 4 July 2012.
