New single player Bioshock 2 DLC revealed, titled Minerva’s Den

2K has announced a fresh and final DLC installment for Bioshock 2. Called Minerva’s Den, the add-on is a stand-alone, story driven campaign that takes the player out of his heavy Big Daddy boots and into the boots of…well 2K hasn’t said yet. However, 2K has revealed that the player – whoever he (or she) is – will again be teaming up with the Little Sisters’ creator Dr Brigid Tenenbaum as they fight to break the grip of an oppressive dictator in a key district of Rapture. Rapture sure likes its dictators, doesn’t it?

At the very least, everything else is new: new district, new weapons, new plasmids, new enemies, even a brand new type of Big Daddy – apparently the others weren’t quite punishing enough. We’re told to expect security bots that can now fire rockets and lightning, as well as splicers that command ‘the power of the elements’.

“Minerva’s Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they’re looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture. The core team has created an exciting product that further enhances the mystery and allure of the world of Rapture. Minerva’s Den will be a fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga.” 2K President Christoph Hartmann said in a prepared statement.
While this might wrap up our current foray into Rapture, there has been no official indication as to whether this will be Bioshock’s final adventure. We’re thinking there’s still more to come – and we’re good with that.

I thought I saw this already out on LIVE... maybe it was just the preview.

@AlpineGuy, this is separate from the main campaign. You aren't playing as Delta, you aren't trying to reach Eleanor, and your primary antagonist is not Sofia Lamb, this is a parallel campaign with an all new cast of characters (aside from Tenenbaum). @Defguru7777, they said it's the end of the BioShock 2 saga, meaning specifically that there likely won't be any more DLC for this game, but it's pretty much a given at this point that there will be another game. I personally have my fingers crossed that the next game will wrap up the story and will end with the destruction of Rapture.

Damn, this might get me back into Rapture. I need to go through on my 2nd playthrough and be all baaaad.

Hadn't 2K already confirmed at least two more games after the original BioShock came out? Sorry to nitpick.

This is the Bioshock 2 dlc I've been waiting for.

Any news on the price? sounds like it might be a little costly :/ If im going to pick up Bioshock 2 again, i dont want to shell out 20 bucks.

Why is 2K pulling an Alan Wake on us by giving a 'fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga' as DLC (that I presume) we will have to pay extra for? True, this and The Protector Trials are far better offerings than some map pack, and I'm going to buy both eventually, so maybe I'm just being a wet blanket. A wet blanket who doesn't really care for paying more than once for a game.

    I NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now THIS dlc is more like it! I passed on the other ones 'cause I still to this day have no desire to play multiplayer-based parts of this otherwise amazing game but with this dlc being a single-player one, consider me on board. reCAPTCHA: 316-18 crackdown (... lolwut)
