Mortimer gets used and Fiddy makes a bet

Crawling from the wreckage of the Pink Panther remake, Emily Mortimer has scribbled her name to no less than five movies already – presumably hoping the ill-advised Steve Martin flick will eventually drop off the bottom of her CV.

Her sixth post-Panther outing will be in Jay Roach’s Used Guys opposite Ben Stiller and Jim Carrey. The story is set in a futuristic society controlled by women, where men are cloned then bought and traded like cars. Carrey and Stiller play two such fellas who decide to go in search of the lost meaning of manhood.

Mortimer plays Michelle, a woman against the principle of purchasing a partner until she buys Stiller and the two begin to fall in love. Roach is set to get cameras rolling in early June.

Meanwhile, G-Unit Films and Universal are set to hook up for heist flick Live Bet. Set in the underground criminal networks of New York City, it marks a first foray into mainstream features for screenwriting siblings Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.

No director attached as yet but no surprises that G-Unit honcho Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson is set to star.
