Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection Kould be Koming this November

It looks like fatality fans can look forward to the release of the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection this November. The HD collection was recently sighted on GAME’s online catalogue. According to the UK games retailer’s website, the HD collection is rated PEGI 16+ and will cost £49.99 or £39.9 if you pre-order the game.

The lack of a listing for a 360 version also suggests that the the title will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Also, the accuracy of the listing on GAME’s website is further supported by a listing found earlier today on US retailer GameStop’s website, which has since been removed.

It seems like PlayStation 3 owners will have even more HD collections/remakes to look forward to. The sighting of the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection follows announcements for the Sly Cooper Collection, as well as HD remakes for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

As the official MK guru. may I take this one GR? WB Games is actually RESHOOTING all of the moves with new actors. While this will, no doubt, change the gameplay as each characters kicks and punches as had their fault due to the actors arm and leg length, it's still an interresting situation. It's also rumored that a demo version of the newest MK will be shipping with the Kollection. If this is a PS3 exclusive, I'll be pissed as all hell BTW. No, I don't have a PS3, but if I were to get one, I'd play the new game when it came out officially on 360, so I can't even get into the right controller mindset if I DO play the damn demo... bastards. Netherrealm studios has a Sony contract to release it's stereoscopic 3d exclusively with them )even though the 360 COULD do it.) Also, a Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition came out containing MK Deception, MK Armageddon, and MK Shaoling Monks that was exclusive to the PS3 so the likelyhood of there being another Kollection exclusive to Sony is pretty high.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, but I'm gonna pull the early trigger and call shenanigans. Anyone else notice the font style of the PS3 logo? Yea, the now defunct PS3 logo from yesteryear. I'd love to see this as much as the next 90s arcade dwelling fan boy, but pardon me for not holding my breath.

Tyler, I hate to do this to you, But you spell Combat, could, collection and coming with a "C". Spell check your articles in the future, Mr. Nagata!

I love me some MK but only reason I'd buy this over using an emulator is for Multiplayer, and drastically better graphics.

Meh. I have arcade emulators for this shit. I don't see the point of shelling out 50-60 bucks for something that might entertain me for 2-3 hours.

I hope this is true. Although I'd prefer a Shaolin Monks 2, but beggers can't be choosers.

This isn't going to be a popular opinion, but it's the TRUTH. Won't Mortal Kombat just fucking die already? It's completely irrelevent. Yes, it was fun in the ealy 90's when we were kids, and violence and gore was seldom seen. Put playing it today is like banging your head against the wall. And about as fun that too. It's a horrible mess of a game. And deserves to left as a relic of the 90's. But no, this will get released and you fucking idiots will lap it up...

As much as I'd love an MK 1-3 remake, something tells me that GAME posted this based on speculation, Gamestop posted it because GAME posted it, Gamestop found out that it was bunk, and pulled the listing. The release date listed is for November of this year! If this thing actually existed, we'd have heard a lot more about it by now.

It would be cool if they used the original full resolution stills of the first 3 games, and turned the blood sprites into actual particle effects.
  • GamesRadarBrettElston - September 22, 2010 6:50 p.m.

Hoping it's MK1-3 at least, though it's possible they'll do Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon instead. Upressing MK1-3 sprites would be easier though.

Meanwhile, the 360 get's Halo Reach and Fable 3. Great time to be a 360 owner! /sarcasm :(

    Holy Krap

How will they update the graphics? This isn't exactly spritework we're working with. If it ends up 2.5D, I'll be irritable.
