Molyneux wants to make one last game

Peter Molyneux thinks his next big game will also be his last. The 53-year-old designer of Fable and Black & White spoke with Beefjack about what he wants to put into his next project (hint: everything he's got), as well as Curiosity and 22Cans' next experiment.

“I’m only going to make one more game, I think,” Molyneux said. “And that thought--the thought of every ounce of my energy, every ounce of my experience, every mistake that I’ve made in every single game--if I can learn from that, and use that energy to make one game… that’s what I’m trying to do.”

He said he and his staff have several features in mind for his magnum opus, but it is far from solid right now. "We’re going to make a game, we’re going to learn what it is to make a game in today’s world, and it’s going to be the defining game of my career.”

Of course, if Molyneux can't resist trying some new ideas after this project sees the light of day, it certainly wouldn't be the first time he bounced a metaphorical check.

Until then, 22Cans is eagerly watching player interaction with Curiosity, and plans to reveal its next experiment called Co-Operation very soon. Soon as in it will "kind of" go live on Friday, Molyneux said.

We never want for surprises with Peter.

Too bad, his ideas were interesting even if they never made it into the games he made.

I feel kind of hypocritical cause I bashed him on a different article, but I feel like I need to make amends real quick. If everyone's hating him for Fable, it's not as big a deal as we've made it out to be. Yeah he likes to say it's going to be the greatest game ever, and of course it's not, but Fable 1-3 were still pretty fun. It's not like they were crap.

Personally I'd have to disagree about 3, the king system was absolute crap, the choices you were given were absolute nonsense. They might as well have been "Feed starving children, or kill a litter of kittens infront of the starving children" and for the most part they kind of were. That wouldn't be so bad if the rest of the game that was actually decent wasn't incredibly short and suffered because of it. And then there's Fable for Kinect...

I despise this man for ruining one of my favorite game series

I'd like to hear what he has planned. The first Fable was one of my favorite games on Xbox when I was younger, and I liked 2 to a certain extent. However, the Black & White series is definitely one of my fave series of all time, and I haven't played anything else like it since. Because of that foundation, I can overlook the recent flops Peter has had recently. I'm still steeling myself for disappointment, but the man has had innovative and fun ideas before, and I think he can implement them again. He just has to limit himself (Hahaha).
