Metal Gear Portable Ops trailer

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is the first handheld MGS to offer the true 3D stealth action we love about the series, and this trailer confirms that it's shaping up to be one of PSP's best games when it launches next year. Click the movies tab above to see what we mean.

The Portable Ops story follows on from MGS3: Snake Eater and the trailer shows some exciting moments from the story, including Naked Snake's (that's Big Boss) first meeting with series legend Roy Campbell.

Before you get confused, remember that MGS3 was about Big Boss pre-mental episode times, when he was codenamed Naked Snake and was Foxhound's ultimate solider. Solid Snake, the hero of MGS and MGS4, was a clone of Big Boss, and MGS: Portable Ops shows us how Naked Snake eventually became Big Boss. Phew!

But you don't need to know all that to see from this footage that Portable Ops is something to get really excited about. With WiFi multiplayer, a full single-player campaign and a truly brilliant, gritty comic book style to the plot-defining cut-scenes, PSP owners should start saving their cash to get involved as soon as this inspired Metal Gear episode touches down in 2007.
