Martin Freeman joins The Worlds End

The World’s End is set to bring Edgar Wright’s Blood & Ice Cream trilogy to a close next year, and has added two new names to its growing ensemble in the form of Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan.

The pair's involvement was confirmed by a press release marking the start of the shoot.

The film follows a quintet of childhood friends who reunite after 20 years to attempt a nostalgic pub crawl, ending up in legendary watering hole, The World’s End.

During the course of their drinking marathon, they realise that they might just have to avert an oncoming apocalypse, a daunting prospect on the back of eight pints.

Freeman appeared in both Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz , so his presence brings a nice continuity to proceedings. No word as yet on who he and Marsan will be playing in the film, although we’re hoping they could be two of the main five buddies.

Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine and Rosamund Pike, The World’s End opens in the UK on 14 August 2013.
