Looking at that last picture, they should bring back DK Jr. Also, they have been using Retro Courses since Super Circuit, despite that, there has always been at least 16 new courses introduced in each Mario game. Since MKDS, there have been exactly 16 new courses and 16 retro courses, no more no less. It's not like they are making less new courses in each Mario Kart, nor are they making more retro courses. I like the current system, other than the fact that certain games should be represented more and they might run out of tracks to bring back at some point in the future.

I want more than just 32 courses. I also want to be able to play it on just the gamepad.

Also, they should bring back Waluigi.

Basically a Kart racing version of SSB. With level editor. And DLC. It really should be a series based on all of Nintendo rather than just Mario.

Super Smash Kart, yes. Link riding Epona or his Loftwing, Captain Falcon in the Blue Falcon, Samus and the Star Fox characters in their respective ships, the Pokemon trainer on his bike and throwing Pokemon as power-ups and weapons, even have Kirby in Wheel form, the possibilities are endless. Do it, Nintendo.

    It should.

For non-Mario characters, I'd love to see R.O.B. and Funky Kong come back. As far as casual appeal goes, maybe find a way to make them more accessible to everyone, and give the hardcore players something better and more interesting to test their mettle. As for the old courses... "about" half? Usually it's exactly half; that's what the retro cups are all about, after all. It's been this way for several installments now.

R.O.B. and Funky Kong just happen to be two of my all time favorite MK characters (along with Toad), and I only use them in the games where they appear. I would LOVE to see one or both of them return in the next MK game.

Sure a level editor would be cool but how is nintendo gonna let us structure something when their tracks are made to be memorable. Not like i dont want it, i just dont want like Diddy Kong Racing DS where you traced a track, that was both weird and bizarre

Put some more thought into the roster. We need more characters with more customization options. Also, please make sure that the character selection actually makes sense. NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE BEE QUEEN!

I like the retro courses, but they're running out of really good retro courses to use. Would love to see Yoshi's Valley (MK64) come back though. All the alternate paths were fun to me. Other than that, I'd like to see some new items, or the return of old ones, like the ghost and leaf. The leaf because it opens new possibilities for accessing shortcuts. The ghost because it adds a wrinkle and gives incentive to use items you may normally save for a specific area of a track (like a mushroom for access to a shortcut or the aforementioned leaf).

The mandatory Mario Kart game? How about a new idea.
  • zombi3grim - November 25, 2012 8:02 a.m.

New ideas dont exist. Everything is based off of something else.

Bring back the Double Dash concept from the GameCube; quite simply the best Maza kart... Period!

More characters, more new tracks, make the Blue Shell only available in last and second-to-last place, bring back the Boo (the ghost that rendered you invisible, invincible and stole an item) so people can DODGE the Blue Shell, reduce rubberbanding A.I. because it's a pain to get hit by a Blue Shell in 1st place and have like 6 racers fly by as you fall, bring character-exclusive items from Double Dash, keep the retor cups because those are fun ^_^

Some really nice points here, I agree with all of them except the "old courses as DLC" one. The 50/50 approach so far is great and who's to say they can't add more NEW tracks as DLC too? Or, to take a different angle, would there even be any point if the game had a level editor? The DLC could be more environment templates and things. Also, one thing I really missed in MK7 was a "quick/single race" mode. In MKDS/Wii you could set up races with your own custom settings, but in 7 you were stuck either playing the Grand Prix or Time Trial (at least in single player anyway.) Also I would like to see the 'sticky' blue shell come back. That is to say, the version that would wait on the track for someone to drive by if you threw it backwards. That way, players might like to use it to stall people tailing them rather than hitting the person in front. Also, it NEEDS a backwards function because if you end up with it whilst in 1st (it happens) you just shoot yourself.

All of these suggestions are very good. Nintendo should browse this site from time to time for ideas, lol.

I'd also like to see 'outside' characters in Mario Kart U-Turn; Angela merkel, Kenneth Williams and Colonel Sanders are all figures that immediately sprint to mind. Let's hope...
