Lineage III code stolen

Ex-NCsoft employees currently under investigation

NCsoft is currently investigating the theft and sale of sensitive code from its upcoming MMO, Lineage III.

The South Korea-based developer confirmed to next-gen.biz that authorities looking into the theft are investigating seven former employees of the company, who allegedly played a role in selling the stolen code to a major Japanese game company.

Software was allegedly showed and possibly copied during a job interview, with police speculating that Lineage III code may have been being leaked from September 2006.

An NCsoft representative said the investigation was "ongoing," but refused to comment further.
