VIDEO GAME, MOVIE AND TV NEWS

Lego Avengers and Jurassic World coming later this year

You'd think that putting Lego, movies like Jurassic World and Avengers: Age of Ultron, and video games together might be a bit niche - at least, if you hadn't been paying much attention. Instead they seem to be part of a secret recipe for perpetual delight and happy-looking sales charts, as Lego and TT Games have announced a new stable of games set for release in 2015.

Lego Jurassic World will let players hop, bop, and build through not just a brickified version of Jurassic World, but also the previous Jurassic films: Jurassic Park (yay!), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (T-Rex on a boat!), and Jurassic Park III (if you must!). It will hit PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, and PS Vita some time in June - the film's set to open on June 12.

Lego Marvel's Avengers takes a similar tack for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron by including a family-friendly minifigure recreation of the original Avengers movie - not to be confused with 2013's Lego Marvel Super Heroes, which saw a huge comic book cast fighting Galactus. Though the movie will release on May 1 in North America, Lego Marvel's Avengers won't release until fall, at which point it'll hit the same platforms as Lego Jurassic World.

In non-summer-blockbuster news, Lego Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin will release on 3DS and PS Vita on March 27 in Europe. And if you prefer smartphones to handheld consoles, you can pick up The Lego Movie Video Game on the App Store now, or Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham on iOS this spring.

Pretty soon they're going to run out of big-budget, action-packed movies to turn into virtual bricks. What'll they do then? I'm thinking Lego The Imitation Game and Lego 50 Shades of Grey are the obvious next step.
