Following his turn as the Big Brother-alike chancellor Sutler in V For Vendetta, John Hurt is back on the side of good for Spanish helmer Alex de la Iglesia.
Based on Guillermo Martinez’ novel, Oxford Murders will see Hurt’s Oxford University academic delve into the investigation of a series of murders linked – Da Vinci Code-style – by mathematical symbols. He’s drawn into the case by an anonymous note received following the killing of a university landlady, who just happens to be a former member of the team who cracked the Enigma Code. Soon, Hurt’s prof is in a race against time to decipher the pattern before more people die.
Iglesia has penned the script with co-writer Jorge Guerricaechevarria, but there’s no word on when the film will start shooting.
