JJ Abrams will direct new Trek movie

Rumours that JJ "Lost" Abrams might not be directing Star Trek XI after all had begun to circulate, but ending the speculation, sources reported late yesterday that he has definitely signed on to the project.

The Hollywood Reporter (see also SCI FI Wire ) confirmed yesterday that Abrams will helm the latest Trek film, which will revolve around the first space adventures of a young Kirk and Spock. Abrams, also the man behind Mission Impossible III, had been developing Star Trek XI through his production company Bad Robot, but only finally confirmed his role as director on Friday.
