Interview with the director on Sonic's future
We get the scoop with Sonic Team director, Yojiro Ogawa
Development aside, what are your general impressions of the console?
Ogawa: It's very expensive... *laughs*
I'm very interested in the hardware and would like to spend time playing it.
Do you think the features of the hardware make it worth the price tag?
Ogawa: When you look at videogame history, Nintendo hardware always extends on what we have. They design and develop things and create new toys.
Now, I think that if Sony had sold the PS3 alongside the Vaio brand - maybe like calling it the Vaio PS3, or something like that - it may have been more appealing to the right people. But I think that the way in which Sony has chosen to promote the PS3 could have been better.
Last but not least, how have things been at Sonic Team since Yuji Naka's departure?
Ogawa: He was the very top person at Sonic Team so, after he left, many of the team members were very concerned about how we would manage and what direction we'd go in. But since he was already gone we had to find a way to move on, that's what we did. We did our best.
