GTA V: More gorgeous new screenshots emerge. Dirtbikes, tennis and paragliding confirmed

Anyone for tennis?

Didn't we have new screenshots from GTA 5 yesterday? Yes, we did. But you don't understand - these are NEW Grand Theft Auto V screenshots, so it doesn't matter when the last lot came. Those are old news. We will toss them to one side and eagerly pore over the new ones, that's just the way things go. So let's get poring.

The screens look great - even better than yesterday's fighter plane. Check out these dirtbikes. With that depth of field effect and beautiful lighting, you've got yourself a game that surely looks way too good to be from regular gameplay in Rockstar's biggest open-world environment to date. Must be the PC version?

Above: Dirtbikes aren't new to GTA, but they've never looked anything like this

Then there's Tennis. We're not quite as enthralled by this one, although the lighting is again, superb. Previous GTA games have allowed the player to take part in various sporting activites (we want to see a return of the Demolition Derby arena from San Andreas), so maybe we'll be serving up an ace or two here in the hopefully not-too-distant future.

Above: Strawberries and cream DLC is unannounced at this time... though it sounds like some kind of Rockstar double entendre anyway

And then there's this one - paragliding. Look at the quality of that environment! And also how the guy doing the gliding looks more like the bloke being chased through the alleyway in the trailer than the suited chap we picked out as flying the plane yesterday.

Above: Sweet mother, that looks beautiful

Rockstar just loves to keep us guessing. But an announcement of even a release window wouldn't go amiss. We're not going to beg. Nah, scratch that. Please can we have a release date, Rockstar?

Looks better, but will still play like garbage and you know....not be fun.

Did you not try pushing people down stairs?!
  • prattnathan - August 22, 2012 8:23 a.m.

I did not. If I had I imagine it wouldn't be half as fun as pushing real people down real stairs. The physics in real life are much more gratifying.

"Must be the PC version?" You guessed it. Typical. Use the power of the PC to hype up and market your game to the consoles, then run a bunch of "Play it best on Xbox 360" ads.

I wonder if Rockstar will finally make the leap and implement full analog controls for movement. Or will I have to continually tap "A" to run?

Tsk, this is gorgeous? It looks nice, but does it look beyond amazing? Not really. Also, the size of the screen captures is so damn small you can't even get a good look at them to really judge them fully. However, with what little I can see the lighting looks like garbage, shadows, foliage.. Yea. I do recall people saying GTA4 looked beyond amazing and it looked mediocre. I can't say that GTA5 will be pushing the envelope with these screenshots. Give me a nice 1920x1080 screen capture and I'll be more than happy to rip it to shreds.

Might actually get my penis size reduced so I can fit it through the hole of the GTA V disc and make love to it. Obviously I'm exaggerating but seriously, this game is going to be awesome.

I secretly want this to be Sims 3

Anybody who wants to rip Rockstar games a new one is a champ in my book.

im kinda getting suspicious about there not being any guns so far. what if in GTA V you have to get from the bottom to the top of life through unscrupulous business dealings instead of gangs and ileagal activities? actually, that still seems like it could be fun.

"Better with Kinect." "Take cover. Take cover?! TAAKE COVER! WHY ARE YOU THROWING YOUR GUN, WHY IS THAT AN OPTION?!"

Cheats, Dear god let there be cheats

In the trailer there's a jewellery shop about to get robbed, the men have guns.

Do you remember GTA IV on PC? I doubt this is the PC version...I doubt Rockstar has even started development on the PC version.
  • db1331 - August 22, 2012 11:58 a.m.

Now that I think about it, punching hookers with Kinect would actually be amusing for a couple minutes.

I'm a big fan of the GTA series but always felt quite underwhelmed by GTA 4. It just wasn't fun in the same way that San Andreas was, the landscape never really changed and there was never a variation in the scenery, locations or vehicles. Really looking forward to GTA 5 though, if they can combine the fun of San Andreas with a strong plot like GTA 4 then I think it will be one of the greatest games, ever.

Of course you are, your penis would fit nicely inside the hole of the disc :)

GTA IV might have taken itself a little too seriously, but it was still a stunning game. I missed the flat-out, insane fun of Vice City and San Andreas but still really enjoyed it. I can forgive a game small control flaws when it's as genuinely ambitious as the GTA series.

DAMN YOU ROCKSTAR! STOP SCREWING WITH US AND GIVE US A TRAILER! As much as I enjoy screenshots I would like something else now.
