God of War: Ascension trailer shows off multiplayer battles

God of War: Ascension is one of the biggest games currently in development, hugely expanding the scope of regular God of War games by adding a multiplayer component that features customizable warriors battling each other for the glory of their patron god.

We wouldn't have thought it possible, but it looks like God of War: Ascension will actually be even more brutal and uncompromising than God of War 3. Which is saying something considering GoW3 featured a scene in which Kratos literally twists the head off a god.

In tandem with this video, Sony also announced that they will be bringing a GoW: Ascension free beta to PlayStation Plus members sometime later this year.

looks cool and fun until you realize that lag is going to ruin everything

It worries me that so far, all we've seen is trailers and gameplay- and largely SIMILAR gameplay- of the multiplayer side so far. We haven't seen ANYTHING to do with the campaign. And I suppose if they want to keep the story under wraps, that's sorta understandable, but it does seem like that they're pinning all their hopes on the multiplayer side, and that does not sit right with me.

I feel like they are going for what Assassin's Creed Brotherhood did. Sure some of us got it for the single player but a lot of us got it becasue the idea of multiplayer interested us. Sub-par story so we can get the best multiplayer experiance they can provide. Does God of War need multiplayer? I didn't think so before but I'm still keeping an open mind.
